I can’t believe I’m already trying to book a winter escape. It’s August and it’s hot here in Alberta. Florida is expensive because it’s high season in Feb. and March and almost everything for a two bedroom, two-month rental is booked–so booked, they’re taking reservations for 2016. Last winter California was easy–hook up the trailer in Feb. and go south;

New FREE MG fiction contest for writers of middle grade fiction http://tinyurl.com/pwbds3q Judged by agent @petejknapp – via @chucksambuchino Unfortunately they only ask for a 150-250 word sample which is quite small so if you’re submitting, those words better be dynamite. The agent Peter Knapp looks pretty darn young for a guy with so much experience. I’m going to submit
The best and most critical of reviewers on the Bookkus.com site gave Voodoo Bully a rave review: “It’s very well written, with many delightful turns of phrase. A marvelous voice, a charming character and an entertaining, quirky tale. This very appealing critter (Evens, the protagonist) is an updated Huck Finn.” Yes, she said,”Huck Finn!”
Returned from 7 weeks in California–top to bottom with the 5th wheel, and am ready to go. Writers group has a new member. My firefighter short story collection is coming along. Waiting on Summit Studios for a check and ETA of the anthology with my cat story. Waiting on word from Tina O’Connor if she’ll take on my juveniles. Also

Trying to get a re-download has been like getting the Pope to swear. After 5 emails, and Kobo’s ‘help’ just not getting it, she finally received a phone number and we’ll have to
Notification: Today is the last day to get a download of my two firefighter novels. Bookkus Publishing is taking all three Old Flames, Gerry’s War, and the newest Final Response. They’ll be repackaged and submitted again online. Final Response will be the vanguard and in paperback first somewhere around the end of April.
The best writer’s editing tool is here. Easy editing all the way. It’s a better mousetrap. It’s the future, and the future is AutoCrit. Wait, wait, don’t click the banner just yet; let me explain. I’m not the best editor, and I’ll’ admit it. There are just too many editing issues in a 100,000 word manuscript to catch every single
For 2014 my new year goals are do-able, I think. I am taking on the job of editor for Bookkus with another person–a tag team. I do the technical stuff and she does the story and structure. I found a new editing program online that will save me tons of time. I’ll be putting my Voodoo Bully middle grade story
